A RARE MEISSEN PORCELAIN TRIPOD TABLE, SECOND-HALF 19TH CENTURY

the table top painted with a large scene of four figures in woodland playing backgammon, after the engraving by Nicolas de Larmessin III after the painting 'Afternoon' from the series The Four Times of Day by Nicolas Lancret, the shaped edge molded with scrollwork and cartouches reserving painted flowers, enriched with a gilt scrollwork border, supported on a scroll- and rocaille- molded stem elaborately embellished with encrusted vines of flowers, and two small perching birds, the base with three molded scroll cartouches reserving flower sprays, the whole painted with scattered small sprigs, supported on three scroll feet, the underside of table top with crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue, indistinct impressed numerals including 116 W, 53 or 33(?)
diameter of tabletop 23 in.; overall height 31 in.
58.5 cm; 78.8 cm

Condition Report:
For a piece of this complexity the overall appearance is good.
The painted porcelain top is in good condition.
The stem with some typical restorations to scattered applied leaves and flowers, the tail feathers of applied birds.
At the point where the two stem sections meet there is band of restoration around the terminal of the lower section.
One scroll foot with traces of restoration at the sides. restoration to protruding scroll tip on each foot.
The underside of the base footed section fitted with a metal supportive brace which could be of later date.
Overall the enamels vibrant.
