A Ratanakosin gilt and laquered bronze figure of a crowned and bejeweled Buddha Shakyamuni. Thailand. 19th century

Standing on a small lotus cushion above a three-tiered pedestal, the right hand raised in abhayamudra, the right hand hanging down, the body and robe adorned with jewellery, decorative pannels, with wing-like ornaments behind the ears and upper arms, and richly decorated slippers. A high pointed ketumala is inserted into the crown. Red pigments to the base.
