A Regency mahogany sofa table, circa 1815, the rectangular twin flap top with brass strung edge, above two frieze drawers and two opposing false drawer fronts, flanked by reeded brass terminals, on reeded downswept tapering legs, terminating in brass caps and castors, 71cm high, 145cm wide (when open), 55cm deep
Condition Report:
Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions consistent with age and use, Marks and stains to the top, colour variation and staining too Some chips and losses, old splits and cracks The handles appear to be original, the nuts to the inside of the false drawer fronts are wider and original, the ones to the operable drawers are later and thinner, the pattern of the handle is identical. Polished overall, Discolouration to the gilt metal mounts, There is an old but later metal brace to the interior of the top one of the bipedal supports, Overall the table appears to be stable
