A Russian iron helmet with silver inlays, 15th - 16th
The faceted skull forged in one piece, extending up to a mounted point, to which a crest was attached. A narrow, multi-piece band running around the outer edge, fastened to the skull with just a few rivets. Above it a decorative band with a fine border of silver-inlaid curlicues at the top and bottom. A zone likewise adorned with geometric silver inlays below the point. The actual plume holder attached from the inside, broken off at the top. The interior lower edge still retaining some of the rivets from the inner lining and the chinstrap mounting. Overall, excellent iron substance with no replacements. The outer surface cleaned and preserved. Rare, decorative helmet. Height 20.5 cm. Länge 21.5 cm.
