Bill Walton, played for the Boston Celtics and was a Grateful Dead fan. He took some of his teammates, including Larry Bird, to see the band play in 1985. Apparently, Bird was impressed by what he saw. In a Q&A with USA Today in 2002 he described Jerry Garcia as "the Michael Jordan of musicians."
