A SILVER-GILT TROMPE-L'OEIL FIGURAL INKSTAND, TIMOFEI NIKOLAEV, ST PETERSBURG, 1884

formed as two traditional cottages separated by a picket fence and a shed enclosing a cart, the surfaces finely engraved to imitate wood, brick, or grass; the cottage roofs serving as detachable covers and concealing glass liners, raised on a shaped oval base with scalloped foot, struck on the base with maker's initials, 84 standard; with original fitted case
length of base 16.9 cm, 6⅝in.

Condition Report:
Overall in very good condition and finely detailed, with minor time wear, as expected. The glass inkpot liner possible replaced.
