A SMALL BLACK-PAINTED TURQUOISE-GLAZED JAR
Kashan, Iran, 12th - 13th century
Of globular shape, on a tall splayed foot, rising to a conical neck with reinforced circular mouth, the underglaze black-painted decoration consisting of fine interlocking and spiralling vegetal tendrils, around the neck and mouth two black bands, the body covered in a light turquoise glaze, an inventory number in Persian numerals to the base '977', 9.5cm high.
Provenance: Acquired in the London art market in 1967.
