Painted in the well with a wide floral wreath surrounding a gilt star motif, the green-ground rim edged with gilt bands and decorated with a gilt foliate border, 23.5cm diam., 'de Sevres/8' in iron-red, incised 8 and cc, inventory mark 31-32.a.c. in green

Don Camillo Filippo Ludovico Borghese (1775-1832) was born in Rome, the son of Marcantonio Borghese, 5th Prince of Sulmona. He married Napoleon's sister, Pauline Bonaparte, in 1803, after her first husband had passed away.
