A Victorian Parcel-Gilt Silver-Plated Card-Case, by Elkington, Last Half 19th Century, After a Design by George Stanton, No. 549, oblong, each side electro-formed with a central scene surrounded by Renaissance-style masks and figures among foliage, in fitted case; Together With: An Edward VII Silver Card-Case, apparently by Deakin and Francis, Birmingham, 1914, shaped oblong, with hinged cover and suspension chain, the case 11cm high, weight of silver 2oz 5dwt (2)

The Elkington card case is a copy of one hallmarked by Elkington for 1852 which is now in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London (museum number 1302-1854). George Stanton designed it based on Renaissance prints.
