A Victorian Silver and Mother-of-Pearl Posy-Holder, by Joseph Willmore, Birmingham, Circa 1840, the body formed as a part openwork cornucopia, with carved foliage mother-of-pearl handle, 14.5cm high
While the maker's mark on the present posy-holder is the distinctive JW mark used by Joseph Willmore the marks was actually used by the partnership of Joseph Willmore, John Yapp and John Woodward until 1845 which Yapp and Woodward entered their own mark. The posy holder is lacking a date letter but the presence of the Victoria head duty mark along with the maker's mark means it must date from between 1838 and 1845.
