[ translate ]

A Victorian burr walnut, ebonised and brass inlaid writing slope, mid 19th century, of rectangular form, the hinged cover opening to a fitted interior with tooled leather writing surface and further compartment underneath, 14cm high, 30cm wide, 24cm deep; an early Victorian coromandel writing box, circa 1840, of rectangular form and with serpentine sides, 16cm high, 43cm wide, 25cm protuberance; and a carved and stained hardwood casket, possibly Anglo Indian, 19th century, 11cm high

This lot is to be sold without reserve

Condition Report:
Each item bears the usual minor marks, knocks and scuffs overall consistent with age and use. The writing slope is a little scratched (including an area of more visible scratching to the left edge of the top) though the veneer appears mostly intact, the interior writing surface is a little creased, and there is one short circa 1cm crack to the veneer there. The coromandel box has small circular pegs to the edges of the top, and on three out of four corners one of these is missing. The veneer is curling up slightly to these parts. There are two chips to the edge above the lock, and a section of circa 5-8cm veneer is missing to the left side close to the rear of the box. The smallest box has a chipped rosette and one or two further short old (healed) splits below this rosette to the bottom banding. Please refer to photos for visual reference to the condition.
