A Victorian set of a tea box and spoon box - Bone, Mother of pearl, Wood - 1840/1860

A set of a 19th century tea box and spoon box made during the Victorian period about 1840-1860. Both are made of a light (coniferous) type of wood and lined with mother-of-pearl and bone. The insides are lined with dark purple velvet, a braided white cord and edges of bone. The tea box has an inner lid lined with mother-of-pearl and a bone knob. On the inside there are remnants of the original tin-/lead foil. The brass lock is original, unfortunately a working key is missing and the refined silver-coloured or silver-plated entrance is original. Both still have their original silver-coloured or silver-plated hinges and rest on refined twisted bone legs. Both have minor chips on the vulnerable corners & edges and small restorations to the mother-of-pearl & bone (inside edge tea box) , all not disturbing and confirmation of the age! The mother-of-pearl and bone have a very nice finish, making the depth, colour shades and chic gloss of the materials still come into their own!
