A Victorian sterling silver and frosted glass butter dish, London 1870/71 by Thomas Bradbury & Sons The base (1871) of circular form, the frosted glass dish cut to resemble a barrel, the domed lid (1870) surmounted by a detachable beaded knop finial with a gilded ball on top. The base and lid with engraved aesthetic style decoration of ferns and other foliage. The front of lid engraved with a crest of hand grasping a palm branch. Each with a diamond registration mark for 15th December 1870. Each section fully marked. Base diameter – 7.7 cm / 7 inches Silver weight – 298 grams / 9.58 ozt The crest is for Burnet, Caldron, Calwood, Caunter, Ecton, Elder, Fidler, Maynard, Montgomery, Ogilvie, Ogilvy, Palmes, Seagrave, Shiers and Willmott
