A WAKIZASHI SIGNED AKIHIRO.

Japan, Edo period 17th c. (shintô period), length 38 cm (blade), 57 cm (total).

A hirazukuri style blade in koshizori sugata, suguha hamon and itame hada. Signed Akihiro. Saya with mura-nashiji on black lacquer. Tsuba, fuchi, kashira and kozuka with elaborated wave pattern, lion and cub shaped menuki. Tsuba and kozuka signed Genkisai Takeda Nobutoshi (born 1834), kogatana Ômi no Kami Tadayoshi (1736-1815). No NBTHK papers. Minor damage at saya and blade (some slight scratches).
