A WELSH OAK TRIDARN NORTH WALES, EARLY 18TH CENTURY The central door inlaid with chequered stringing and the initials 'M.R.M' 193cm high, 136cm wide, 55cm deep Condition Report: Marks, scratches and abrasions, old chips and splits comensurate with age and use. Some old losses, some old repairs as expected for age and use. This includes various old spliced repairs. Some dowel joints are replaced, some are lacking. If required, this could easily be resolved by a restorer and matched well. Some areas of fading as expected but overall good colour and patina. The uppermost section is of the period and appears constructed as is now, however has likely been associated the the remainder of the piece there is no specific method of securing the top part to the remainder. The brass handles and escutcheons are associated and of 18th or early 19th century period.The central panel bearing the parquetry initials does not operate as a door and may never have done. At this position and others some later adaptions have likely taken place to the interior structure (without altering fundamentally) to the taste/ use of owner(s) in the 19th and 20th century possibly. Some previously fitted locks (late 18th or 19th century) are now removed with some vacant cut out lock positions.Modern constructed frame of shelves has been fitted to the lower interior. The boards forming the floor of the lowest cupboard overall are likely later and 19th century .
