A WILLIAM & MARY WALNUT AND BANDED ESCRITOIRE LATE 17TH CENTURY The escritoire fall enclosing a leather inset writing surface, small drawers and recesses around a central door with an interior sliding section concealing three hidden drawers 164.5cm high, 113cm wide, 58cm deep Condition Report: Overall there are some scratches, marks, chips, cracks and abrasions consistent with age and use.There are some discreet repairs, for example the corner of the cornice, some replaced veneers, stringings and mouldings, the feet later; there is some evidence of old worm; the gilt brass handles to the interior seem original; the exterior handles and escutcheon are later; the locks are later, there is one key for the fall front of the escritoire; there is no key to open the interior central door; the gilt tooled leather inset is later; the drawers linings are oak; later brass hinged arms to hold the fall front; some repairs to the hinged area.Please see all the additional condition report photographs through the link on the condition report email as a visual reference of condition - they are a vital part of this report.
