A WILLIAM & MARY WALNUT AND FEATHERBANDED CHEST OF DRAWERS CIRCA 1690 With an ivorine inventory or collection label to the reverse numbered '534' 78cm high, 72.5cm wide, 52.5cm deep For a related walnut and featherbanded chest of drawers see Christie's, The English Collector, London, 22nd May 2014, Lot 1195, (£8,125 incl. BP). Condition Report: Chest with the marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use.Old splits and chips. Various old veneer and moulding repairs - see images for details. Handle and escutcheons are replacements but are in period taste and suit the piece well. There are some 'shadows' and small filled nail holes from previous fixtures (only noticeable upon close inspection). Lock appear to be original. No key is present but all are open. The expected evidence of old worm in places. Feet are very well matched old replacements. One foot has a glued repair to its turned stem.
