A William IV embossed silver pedestal cream jug.

A William IV silver pedestal cream jug, the circular squat form with applied floral scroll rim above a bulbous body to a spread foot and reeded handle, all embellished with further floral, foliate and scroll motifs. Hallmarked London 1833, with maker's mark WH, probably William Hewitt. Height including handle 4.25" (11cm), weight 9.43 ozt (293.3 grams).

Condition Report:
- Displaying expected surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing consistent with the age and use.
- A few minor surface dints and bruises One panel engraved with single initial.
- A few minor cracks/splits around the rim.
- Surface rubbing and slight flattening to areas of the decoration, causing some loss of detail.
- Interior once gilded but this is now worn and faded. Slight impression of a circular mark from the join of the foot visible to the base. Also some heavier scratches and contact marks seen in the same area.
- Visible solder at handle joins, possible repairs?
- Hallmarked below lip to one side, some light rubbing but otherwise in good order. Maker's mark a little distorted. Similar to mark for William Hewitt but missing pellet? No visible hallmarks to handle.
