A beautiful Egyptian banded alabaster alabastron
A beautiful Egyptian banded alabaster alabastron, Late Period, c. 664 - 332 BC, the body ovoid with two vestigial lug handles and remnants of the neck and rim. The vessel is nicely carved from horizontally banded alabaster with thin walls allowing light to penetrate within H: 3 7/8 in (9.8 cm). Ex estate of Seward Kennedy, New York. Mr. Kennedy worked for decades as a lawyer for the Mobil Corporation, and acquired his collection throughout decades of travel beginning in the 1950's.
