A brass altar of Nandi. Southern India, Karnataka. 17/18th century
Of three parts. Nandi, adorned with chains and garlands, stands on a tall base in front of a yoni-lingam. At the back, a torana, topped by a kirtimukha head and inhabited by a seven-headed naga. The figure of Nandi was soldered to the base in a later period.
