A bronze figure of Avalokiteshvara. Indonesia, Southern Sumatra. Srivijaya kingdom, 8/9th century
The slender figure wearing a tight-fitting robe tied together below the navel, holding the stem of a lotus bud in the raised left hand, the right hand hanging down. In front of the piled-up hair a seated figure of Amitabha, the head backed by an oval halo. A loop-shaped tang under the feet. Stand.
