A carved ivory medallion with Emperor Ferdinand I by Leopold Pronner
A round medallion with a raised relief depicting a three-quarter bust of the Emperor facing right. He is shown crowned and dressed in his regalia with the Order of the Golden Fleece. The medallion inscribed to the border "FERDINANDVS I D C ROMANORVM IMPERATOR SEMPER AVGVSTVS." and with a small inscription plate to the left dated "1580" with the initials "LP" for the ivory sculptor and turner Leopold Pronner - an Austrian who settled in Nuremberg in 1600.
Slightly yellowed, the right edge reattached. Diameter 9.5 cm.
