A carved wooden plaque, 19th century, of 'God's Providence House', designed with Tudor style timber beam and gallery detail, engraved 'Gods Providence is Mine Inheritance', '1652', 23.5cm high
God's Providence House, Chester gained its name during the outbreak of Black Death (1647-48). Many perished from the terrible plague symptoms but miraculously the entire family that lived in the house managed to survive the pestilence.
