A cased Belgian or French luxury side-by-side percussion shotgun, circa 1840
Cal. .63 BlackPowder, SN. ohne, 16 mm calibre muzzle-loader. No serial number. 66.5 cm long, hook-on Damascus steel barrels with nearly bright bore. Complete, original barrel browning. Bead front sight. The barrel bar with "A/JC" gunsmith mark within an oval. This mark is repeated on the undersides of both barrels and on the left side of the butt stock. Lock plates delicately engraved with animals, scrolling leaves, lines and flowers. En suite engraved iron furniture. Trigger guard, butt plate and jaw screw with largely preserved bluing and browning, respectively. Half stock made of finest root wood, with elaborate silver wire and silver inlays. Apart from a few scratches, the shellac finish is fully preserved. Original wooden ramrod with brass tip. Mechanically sound. Length ca. 115 cm.
In original wooden case with brass mounts. Including the complete set of original accessories such as a combination wrench (screw driver/nipple wrench), the pommel also made of the same root wood. Three-piece cleaning rod with screw-on bullet extractor. Wadding tool, bullet mould etc. Key missing. Dimensions 76 x 25 x 8.5 cm.
