A fantastic large Gnathian-ware bell krater, Apulia
A fantastic large Gnathian-ware bell krater, Apulia, 4th Century BC, of solid construction with flared foot, two handles adorned with ridges and a widely flared mouth with two grooves inset from the rim. The exterior is decorated with an elaborate vine and tendril motif, the interior with a single solid red line. 9 5/16 x 13 1/4 in (23.6 x 33.6 cm). Repaired from a few large pieces. Light surface deposits. Ex Southern California private collection.
