A fine Chinese silver parcel gilt wine ewer
Kangxi period, ca 1700, China
A rare piece of early Chinese silver. Decorated around with long panels in deep relief showing various scenes of birds and figures with flowering trees including a scene of two monkeys and a peach tree and another with a figure on horseback. Not marked or signed.
H 19 cm, Weight ca. 475 gr.
A similar example is held in the collection of the Palace Museum, Versailles, France.
Most of the gilding worn off (only traces remain). Repair to the finial (has been re-attached).
