A fine gilt and lacquered bronze figure of Buddha. Thailand, Ratanakosin. Early 19th century

Standing on a tall stepped base, with both hands held in abhaya mudra. The garment is decorated with dense floral and vegetal ornaments; the centre, the waist, and the folds were originally inlaid with colourless mirror glass, with several pieces now remaining on the back. The eyes painted, with remnants of colour on the lips; several shaping dents on the chin.
