A gilt and lacquered bronze figure of Buddha Shakyamuni. Thailand/Laos. 17/18th century
Standing, the right hand raised in abhayamudra, the left hand hanging down, with broad shoulders, thin neck and particularly long ears, the oval head with heavy eyelids and curved mother-of-pearl eyes with black pupils, the bulging lips shaped into a wide smile. Small pointed curls cover the head and ushnisha with ketumala. Mounted on a wooden stand.
