The black lacquer box-cover, decorated to one side with landscape and poetry, the other with officials around a table and to each end with precious objects, lifting to reveal a red lacquer removable ten-compartment offerings tray within a gallery, the mid-section featuring carved and pierced gilt wood friezes of courtly figures and animals all over a splayed carved and pierced foliate apron and raised on corner lion-dog supports and plinth base. (small damages throughout).
