A heavy Dutch matchlock blunderbuss, circa 1620
Heavy, round and conically widening barrel with a muzzle diameter of 51 mm. The top of the barrel decorated with engraved bands. On the side a rectangular pan with pivoted cover. Matchlock with simple trigger, the hammer with a piece of original match cord. Full stock of ebonised hardwood (two replacements at the butt end), smooth iron furniture. At the underside of the upper third of the barrel a sturdy round eyelet for the attachment to a pivoted base. Original iron ramrod. Length 127 cm.Rare heavy matchlock gun, which probably used to belong to the inventory of a fortification or served as a naval gun.Provenance: Previously the Nuremberg Collection, Frankfurt am Main, after that the Michael Trömner Collection, Abensberg.Condition: II
