A lacquered bronze figure of Bodhisattva Guanyin. Late Ming dynasty, 17th century

Seated in meditation on a double lotus base, both hands in vitarkamudra with lotus stems growing from the palms supporting a vase and a parrot at shoulder height, wearing a crown, the chignon surmounted by a tiny Buddha in meditation. Covered with reddish-brown, gilded lacquer and overpainting. Weight 6.24 kg.
