A large Egyptian faience figure of Pataikos

A large Egyptian faience figure of Pataikos, Late Period - Ptolemaic, c. 664 - 30 BC, depicted nude, with plump rounded features and light blue color. Pataikos was a phylactic deity worshiped throughout Egyptian history. The deity was associated with Horus-the-Child and in later times Bes, frequently depicted as a subjugator of malevolent natural forces. H: 2 3/4 in (6.9 cm). Head re-attached with restoration to legs, left arm and buttocks. Ex West Sussex, UK private collection.
