A large Egyptian painted wood mummy mask, Late Period, c. 664 - 332 BC, the facial portion from an anthropoid sarcophagus lid, with well-shaped features - large angular nose, almond-shaped eyes and shapely lips; the central portion of the headdress preserved. 11 x 10 1/4 in (27.8 x 25.9 cm). A handsome example with remnants of original pigments beneath mineral deposits. Custom lucite base. Ex New York private family estate.
