A large Laotian bronze figure of Buddha Shakyamuni. 17th century or later

Standing on a flat slab, both hands in abhaya mudra, the tight-fitting robe is spread out by the arms, the wide fold at the abdomen and the vertikal center fold are decorated with engravings and flowers in lozenges respectively, the petals formerly all inlaid with glass stones. The narrow head with stylised facial features and particularly long ears, small pointed curls cover the head and ushnisha, the inserted ornament is missing. The eyes inlaid with silver, remnants of copper to the lips. Repairs to the upper body. Firmly mounted on a wooden base.
