A large Manteno black-war figural vessel

A large Manteno black-war figural vessel, Ecuador, c. AD 1000 - 1500, a choice example featuring a beautifully detailed head emanating from the upper chamber. The conical headdress is etched into the broad rim using a technique alternating burnished and matte areas. H: 9 in (22.8 cm). Nicely burnished, good mineral deposits. Cf.
