A large Ming jar
Of ovoid form, painted with four quatrefoil shaped panels enclosing peony, lotus and other flowers issuing from rock work and below the shoulder with four cartouches enclosing flowering peaches, all conjoined by strap-work framed by ruyi-heads and reserved on a blue-wash wan patterned ground above a lappet border, base unglazed, on elaborate later wood stand and with elaborate later wood cover. Period: Wanli (1573 to 1619). Height: ca. 45 cm (without the stand).
