A large and important Russian- Caucus region, silver marriage belt -early 20th century.
The front part of this massive belt is made of silver that has been cut and hammered. Beautiful filigree work decoration throughout. hand cut glass stones adorn the belt as well. A row of silver coins dangle on the bottom of the belt buckle and a longer row of coins dangles all the way past the hip when it is worn giving a even more impressive affect. The belt is closed using a copper hook that connects to the copper loop Antique Russian silver coins and silver medallions outline the length of the thick leather belt. Many of the coins date from the early 19th century.
The belt is not hallmarked but has been checked for silver content which is very high
