A large and impressive simulated marble bust of Emperor Hadrian, late 20th century
A large and impressive simulated marble bust of Emperor Hadrian,
after the Antique, late 20th century, the bearded subject portrayed
in military dress and looking slightly to sinister, on a waisted circular
socle, 92cm high
This bust is a full-size rendition of the monumental example in the
British Museum, London, INV.1805,0703.95
This lot is to be sold without reserve
Condition Report:
The bust bears the minor marks, knocks, scuffs and scratches overall commensurate with age and use, including some scratches to the left cheek. There are some irregularities to the painted surface, with thicker areas, though this is likely the result of manufacture. The wear to the top of the head and other areas is likely simulated. The bust is made of a resinous material, and is actually quite light (could be lifted by one person).
