A large ormolu rococo wall cartel clock - NO RESERVE PRICE - Japy Freres & Cie, Paris, France - Gilt bronze - Late 19th century

A large (55 cm) French wall cartel clock from the late 19th century. Rococo style gilt bronze case, extensive decor - leaves, rocailles. Rare clock, particularly in such good condition. Finely finished rococo style cast bronze case, chisseled and gilt. Decorated with accanthus leaves, scrolls, flowers. Finished with glossy and matt gold. Creamy enamel dial, black Arabic hour numerals, with gold dots for minutes, preserved in amazing condition, without discolourations nor cracks. Very well executed openwork chisseled and gilt brass hands. Movement stamped on the backplate: JAPY FRERES & Cie / G[ran] de MEDAILLE D'HONEUR, inscription in the circle, around the medal of honour. Serial number: 4498 over 7 - left side of the movement, numbers indicated proportion of weigth and length of pendulum - 5 / 2 (lower part of the movement) . Conditions report: case in excellent condition with minimal wear, gold layer well preserved, minimal discolorations. Movement works and strikes. Clock comes with pendulum and winding key. It's over 100 years old movement, we do not guarantee quartz accuracy. Movement may need regulation after shipment. Shipping with Austrian Post, registered parcel with tracking.
