A large pair of Italian flower still lifes, Roman

Oil on canvas. Landscape format, depictions of large bouquets of flowers with tulips, roses and carnations in bronze vases decorated in relief on simple pedestals. Masterly lighting, with the flowers strongly highlighted and some in shadow, in the tradition of the Caravaggisti. In the original, heavy frame of ebonised wood with finely carved, gilt friezes of acanthus leaves. Size of each painting 75 x 92, including frame 114 x 135 cm.From the workshop of Mario Nuzzi (1603 - 1673), a painter of flowers in Rome, also known as Mario de' Fiori.Condition: IICondition Report:Restorations to both paintings visible under ultraviolet light. One picture with several small retouches in various sections of the background, the second with extensive restorations in the left third in the area of the flower painting.
