A late 19c Royal Polytechnic barometer made by Joseph Davis & Co. Royal Polytechnic Institution, Kensington Park Road, having a circular dial with comparative scales indicating various weather conditions. The dial has paper scales and below it are printed Admiral Fitzroy's remarks. Below these are matching Fahrenheit and Centigrade mercury thermometers. The oak case is rectangular with a glazed front and has the 25cm round dial mounted above this. The case is 104 cm tall overall.
