The dial has paper scales and below it are printed Admiral Fitzroy's remarks. Below these are matching Fahrenheit and Centigrade mercury thermometers. The oak case is rectangular with a glazed front and has the 25cm round dial mounted above this. The case is 104 cm tall overall.
