A late Victorian 18ct gold garnet and diamond

A late Victorian 18ct gold garnet and diamond three-stone ring. The replacement rectangular-shape garnet, with old-cut diamond sides, rose-cut diamond spacers and trefoil shoulders. Estimated dimensions of garnet 9 by 7.5 by 3.9mms. Estimated total old-cut diamond weight 1.60cts, I-J colour, VS2-SI2 clarity. Ring size Q. Weight 3.6gms.
Condition Report: Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
Some replacement gems.
Significant discolouration across the entire ring.
Some small file marks to the band.
Some claws show moderate wear.
Diamonds well matched.
Diamonds bright.

One old-cut diamond with small, central dark inclusions, and a small feather to one side. Other old-cut diamond with few minor inclusions, possible small feather beneath one claw.
Individual size and setting of rose-cut diamonds prevents accurate weight estimation and colour and clarity assessment.

Garnet is a deep slightly orangey red hue, well saturated, with good clarity and typical inclusions.

Garnet in good condition with some small nicks.

Metal tests as approximately 18ct gold.
Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
