A late Victorian 18ct gold opal and diamond cluster ring. Of marquise-shape outline, the oval opal cabochon, with old-cut diamond surround, to the grooved shoulders. Estimated total diamond weight 1.20cts. Stamped 18C. Ring size M. Weight 4.7gms. Purchasing information Overall condition good to fair. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear. One of the end diamonds has a fracture extending across the centre. Diamonds fairly well matched. Diamonds bright.
Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.
Diamonds generally with small inclusions and some with small nicks. Opal has a whitish body colour, with fairly strong play-of-colour displaying a range of hues.
Opal in good condition with some light marks and abrasions.
