[ translate ]

A late Victorian mahogany extending dining table, circa 1900, with six additional leaf insertions, on reeded tapering legs, 75cm high, 152cm wide, 477cm long (fully extended)

In addition to the original cataloguing this has a Joseph Fitter action to extend, Joseph Fitter was a Birmingham machinist, and applied for a patent for an extending dining table in 1861. Business directories in 1870 list him at this address

Condition Report:
Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions consistent with age and use, Some chips and losses to timber around where the leaves join, also dents and scuffs to the supports through age and use One leg with solid chewing gum adhered. The action is not connected at one end - it is possible to unwind but Dreweatts cannot guarentee the overall stability without it being fully re-attached, it has therefore not been possible to get more than three leaves in at present in the saleroom. Potential purchaser's should satisfy themselves as to the full functionality of this table as a large extender. The top and leaves all with some marks and scratches and ring marks, the undersides of the table tops with numbers to ensure they are placed in the correct order. The leaves appear fairly regular and the top appears fairly flat when the leaves are in place. Please note: This has a Joseph Fitter action to extend it. Joseph Fitter was a Birmingham machinist, and applied for a patent for an extending dining table in 1861. Business directories in 1870 list him at this address Additional measurements: Unextended (just the two ends) 152cm long (currently 313cm long with three leaves in in the saleroom) the leaves are all varying sizes, one is 51.5cm long, three are 52.5cm long, one is 55.5cm long, the last is 57.5cm long giving the overall length as in the catalogue if the action can be fully extended to accommodate - Dreweatts gives no guarantees Please see additional image for visual reference to condition
