A legacy of the Japanese fighter pilot Matsuo Matsuda

Leather flying cap with appliquéd star on the forehead, lined with fur (flaws). Comes with the aviator goggles without strap (one glass missing, the other cracked). Pilot jacket of light brown cotton cloth, two breast pockets with vertical zips, black synthetic buttons, on the reverse a Japanese flag with lettering, sleeve badge in the rank of lieutenant. Also a matching pair of trousers with two side pockets and zips on the leg ends, a pair of leather pilot boots and a pair of shoulder boards in the rank of lieutenant. Furthermore, a tropical shirt with stitched shot marks. In addition, three photographs and a document.
From 1938 to 1940, the pilot served in China, Honan, close to the Russian border, and in Mongolia. In 1939, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant major and later to lieutenant of the air force. He was killed in action, as stated on the white silk ribbon attached to the sword (length with scabbard approx. 97 cm). The blade of the sword was severed in a proper ceremony after his death. Partly damaged, traces of age.
