A lovely Han Dynasty polychrome cocoon vessel, China, c. 206 BC - AD 220, a graceful piece, the footed pedestal base lightens the form and the short neck with the faceted rim elevates and elongates the overall design. A symbol of good luck, the cocoon jar is a distinctive and classic form. Its voluminous body is adorned with strong remnants of swirling, heavenly cloud-like designs that complement the charcoal hue of the clay.
