A magnificent set of coffee / tea spoons - total of 8 from an estate of a very wealthy family Each spoon is monogrammed in unique silver Massive - thick silver - very nice quality 800/1000 - solid silver each spoon is signed 4 times - 800 / German silver marks / CW ( Carl weishaupt) / French control marks Each spoon is signed with the name of the shop that sold this wonderful set of spoons in- Friedlander - famous antique shop in Germany Hand crafted by CARL WEISHAUPT - Germany - 1850 circa SITES WHERE SILVERWARE WAS MANUFACTURED AND TRADED: CARL WEISHAUPT Founding father of this Munich silversmiths' dynasty was Anton Weishaupt (1776-1832) . He was followed by his son Carl Weishaupt (1802-1867) and his grandson Max II Weishaupt (1838 - 1903) . Increasing economic success made it possible to move to large business premises on Marienplatz, first in the No. 1 and then in Marienplatz 29, corner Rosenstraße. During this time, the company intensified its cooperation with the largest South German silver manufactory Peter Bruckmann & Söhne in Heilbronn. After the death of Max II Weishaupt, his widow Anna Weishaupt took over the business in 1903 and ran it until her death in 1918. In 1908 and 1911, Richard Riemerschmid, who had family ties with the Weishaupt family, designed the company's famous cutlery patterns CWR and CWM. Both cutlery were awarded several times and found their place in the history of design.
