A mid 19th century gold garnet and white enamel brooch.

Length 4.1cms. 13.5gms.

Condition Report:
- Overall condition good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.

- Base metal pin.

- Wear/indentations to the back of the hook clasp panel.

- Garnet reddish-purple, well saturated, with good clarity and typical inclusions.

- Stone in good to fair condition with light abrasion and a visible surface reaching fissure running through the centre.

- Enamel in generally good condition with some small chipped/deficient areas.

- Metal tests as approximately 17 to 20ct gold. Possibly 15ct or 18ct with gilt finish.
- Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
- Fellows does not guarantee the standard of gold or platinum unless an item is hallmarked. Results from electronically tested items should only be used as a guide and with caution, as false readings are possible.
