A miniature Tibetan fire-gilt copper alloy figure of Maitreya. 16/17th century
Seated on a double lotus throne in padmasana, with his right hand lowered in varada mudra and his left in vitarka mudra, holding a plant stem bearing an amrita vessel. A thin shawl flows around him and frames his head like a nimbus. The jewellery is inlaid with stones, as well as two miniature pearls.
