A pair of George III small silver sauce boats, each of oval bellied form with punch bead rim, acanthus capped flying scroll handle and raised on three shell capped and stepped hoof feet. Hallmarked Hester Bateman, London 1780. Overall length 4.75" (12cm), weight 5.17 ozt (160.7 grams).
Condition Report:
- Both displaying some general expected surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing commensurate with their age and use.
- Of fairly thin gauge.
- Both with some rim splits and likely small repairs.
- Further cracks and repairs at joins of handle to rim, more so on one example. Also appear to be repairs to handles themselves.
- Slight impressions from the joins of the feet, seen to both interiors.
- Both stand firm on their feet.
- Hallmarks located to each base, these rubbed but legible.
